Book Deconstruction

With this project I was tasked with deconstructing a book to achieve a desired design by deconstructing a book and "destroying" it. I decided when doing this project to carve a pair of lungs into the book to sort of being symbolic of knowledge and lungs being equal in importance to our body as our lungs. Working on this project I was very surprised with how it turned out I wasn't expecting it to come out so well. But I'm proud of how this project turned out I put alot of hard work into it and it just goes to show that hard work and determination equals success.

With this project I was tasked with creating an infographic for a project we could pick any topic that we wanted.

For my infographic I decided to create an infographic for the shortest and tallest athletes to compare them and see whether it correlates to skill in a certain sport. I had to determine a target audience for this product and how certain things would affect this audience.

For this project I had to do a ton of research to find out the stats of all of the players, how many seasons they played, their height, and how they look. I also needed to determine which stats were the most important and which I should leave out.

I decided to go with a simple design for this project. I did this because I wanted to highlight the stats because they are supposed to be the most important part of the poster. But I did the simple design of the players because I'm not great at drawing and I was trying to find a way to portray the players well.

In this project I was tasked with creating a unique portrait of myself using 2 or more forms of media to create the portrait. I actually used 3 different forms of media to create the portrait photography, digital media, and physical media. I took a photo of myself first, and then took the photo into photoshop to create the swirling background and try to layout how I was going to cut the photo to create the desired effect. Then I actually cut the photo with an exacto knife and mixed around the pieces to create the finished product.

STOP MOTION VIDEO

Anchor 5

During this project I worked with a group of 5 people to complete a stop motion animation trailer within 5 days. We were tasked with completing editing the video, creating characters, animating the characters, creating sets, and doing foley work. I worked on doing the foley work, creating the character of "The Fairy Godfather", and animating some of the knights actions. We went with a funnier approach to the project trying to put funny moments with "The Fairy Godfather".

RAYGUN

Anchor 6

In the RayGun project we were tasked with creating a cover and two spreads for the popular 90s grunge magazine RayGun. This project tasked me with creating the magazine covers that break the rules of design and kind of do whatever I wanted since I wasn't bound by the rules of design.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

Anchor 7

The National Geographic magazine project is basically the opposite of the raygun magazine cover because with the national geographic you need to follow sort of a template that National Geographic has put out in all of their magazines. We didn't really have much freedom with this project besides picking the country that the project would be on. I picked Nepal for my project and at the time there happened to be a festival of spring happening in which they throw around colored power everywhere. So I chose to stick with a vibrant and colorful palette.

During this "project" that I sort of gave myself, I challenged myself to try to take photography that displays nature as the centerpiece showing the beauty that nature can have. I took these during varied times, seasons, and weather. I tried not to allow any "man-made" objects into the photos.

Dog Photography

Anchor 9

I challenged myself in this "project" I challenged myself to take pictures of my sister's dog and try to see how I could make the pictures more interesting instead of just a simple full picture of the dog. It was sort of hard because both the pictures I took had to be candid because I can't really control what a dog does and have it move around how I wanted it to look like you could a human. First, I took kind of a "human portrait" photo with natural lighting to create a dramatic lighting effect. The next photo I did an action photo of the dog trying to get a drink of water out of a gutter pipe.

SOCIAL PERSUASION

For this project we were tasked with creating a project that would persuade the public to do something we believed would better the earth. And during this time in sophomore year I was very passionate about people being informed about what was in your products and how it could affect your body. At that time I wanted to convince people all products should come with information about what is in every single product.

For this project we were assigned a client from the cosmetology shop, and were tasked to create three printed products for a salon that they had created. So I was tasked by the client to create a menu, business card, and a flyer advertisement. The salon they created was a Swedish inspired salon so my client wanted a forest-like feel to the products. I was also tasked with arranging text ,that I was supplied with by the client, properly so it would fill the page correctly.

Catalogue

For this project I was tasked with creating a concept and theme for a catalog magazine, and then producing a catalogue based off of that concept. The catalog needed to contain 10 photos that I had taken of products and 50 photos overall spanning 12 pages.  I went for a 80's/90s theme for my catalogue which I tried to display all throughout the magazine through the products, cover, etc.

For this project we were required to acquire a local client, and create new marketing materials for them. We were required to create at least 3 final products, sketches, and a written proposal. We were required to communicate with our client and consider what they had to say. And at the end we needed to present our projects to a group of judges.
